Hello friends,
I’m on the patio this morning at my hotel in Nairobi. We have some meetings here today, plus a Covid test for the return. I’ve been here a few days,. and head back tomorrow night.
As you may know, the book effort is in large part a collection of lessons I have learned on trips just like this one. Hopefully, I am still learning.
Yesterday we visited the Karen area, named after a prominent figure in Kenyan history, Karen Blixen. She was the main character in the highly decorated film adaptation of her time here, Out of Africa. What I didn’t remember, if it was in the film, is that she left Kenya bankrupt.
As we toured her estate which is now a museum, it was obvious her impact here continues to be felt, tho it probably hardly felt like it as she left in what appeared to be ruin. In later years, she wrote a number of books, including her story of her time here, which is the source material for the movie.
Sometimes (maybe never?) we don’t know our impact while we are toiling. I think that was so in her case. Let’s keep working in goodwill and obedience.
Pls pray I make progress on the division of the content into the three volumes, as I got good feedback from my last post that favored that approach. Can we have a book by the end of the year? I hope so.
And pls prayers for traveling mercies… much more in the forecast.
Blessings to you,
Scott
