It seems sensible that the only way to get more clarity on the future is to continue to approach the near horizon. This can be more difficult than it sounds. Persistence is a challenge that few rise to.
What's going on with me? Thanks for asking.
Today I am on a plane for my last business trip of the year. I'm glad to cap it off. It's been a good year and much to be thankful for. We continue forward.
Speaking of clarity, I am starting to see some things in more detail. Such as the transition from podcasting to writing. It's starting to make sense. I would encourage you to check out the final few episodes (for now) of the Leaders Moment. Ken Brooks (Bro!) sat in with me for several sessions and I think it went well. Wish I had thought of this sooner, roping the brother in. Perhaps we will take the mic again in collaboration down range. I hope so. Final session of Leaders Moment publishes with the help and perspective of Christian Masculinity from an (anonymous) Special Forces soldier. I trust it will be illuminating.
Book news is that the 3rd installment of Anthologies will publish in January, with the stellar help of an editing skill set by Becky Hershberger! If you need editing, let me wholeheartedly recommend her. This final in the trilogy will focus on Religion and The Future, and may well be a little more edgy than the first two installments.
As a follow up to my last letter, the challenges of mid-year have subsided quite a bit, for which I am thankful.
When it comes to plans for 2024, BroSummit Flagstaff is coming together nicely. Just a few spots left. Let me know if you want more info. If you can't get to Flagstaff, plan to join us in Brazil in October 2024 for BroSummit Florianopolis! ;^)
I am struggling a bit with the incorporation of the other things we would like to do and I have mentioned before - Family Camp and Leaders Summit. We will endeavor to persevere but would appreciate very much (and request, pls) your prayers. It's looking pretty challenging to get it on the schedule soon, unlike my anticipation in earlier communication.
Did I mention that Heather and Coleman are making us into grandparents? We are super thankful and I don't think Kathy has touched the ground since we heard. Very cool times. Due date March 31. In my mind I'm going to Carolina! And more than just in my mind. I have said it quite a bit, that once we found out, Kathy let me know she would be taking up residence in Carolina and that I was welcome to join, if I wanted to. That's a touch (but only a touch) of an exaggeration. We may look for a place there for the 2024 year so we can be close, and fall back to the RV if needed.
Destiny - our middle daughter - has been traveling with me a good bit, or maybe me with her, for work stuff, and she is doing a great job in our company. It's a delight to have a relationship with adult children. I'm super thankful.
I'd like to ask for your prayers for Katie, the youngest, who was involved in a car accident as a passenger October 1. She is still on medical leave from work, and can't seem to shake the pain of the back and neck injury. Prius back seats are very near the bumper and a no brake collision while stopped at a red light is kinda not awesome. We will find out later this month if she will be able to return to work in January. Yes, please pray for her healing and restoration. Thank you.
I would love to hear about your plans, hopes and projects for 2024, to keep you and your work in prayer.
Please accept my wishes and prayers for you and your family, for a Merry Christmas, and a 2024 that receives you gladly and brings you increased joy and blessing.
All the best and love in Christ Jesus,
Scott
